His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland (HMICS) provides independent scrutiny of both Police Scotland and the Scottish Police Authority (SPA).
Our approach is to support Police Scotland and the SPA to deliver services that are high quality, continually improving, effective and responsive to local needs.

Survey launched to improve sheriff court citation process
HM Inspectorate of Prosecution in Scotland and HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland have launched a survey asking prosecution witnesses to share their views and experiences of being cited to give evidence in a sheriff court in the last three years.
Responses must be submitted by 5pm on Friday, 4 April 2025.
