The aim of this inspection was to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the way in which Police Scotland delivers its statutory role as the licensing authority in Scotland for firearms, shotguns and air weapons. This inspection complimented a wider inspection of local policing arrangements in Tayside Division conducted in 2017 under the HMICS Local Policing+ Inspection Programme. A report of our inspection of local policing in Tayside was published in November 2017.
