In early 2017, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland worked with HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) in England and Wales to inspect British Transport Police (BTP). This inspection formed part of a regular programme of inspections by HMICFRS known as PEEL, and involved an assessment of BTP’s efficiency, legitimacy and leadership.
